I was going through some old handwritten notes of mine, and came
across a "List of Holidays in the Consulate General's Office in New
York" in some old (Congress) year. Interestingly, this was
highlighted in an article published in the BJP mouthpiece "Organiser"
(frankly, I do not know the year and date of the issue of the magazine) to point
out how Hindu holidays were of no importance to the Indian Consulate in new
York representing a Congress government in Delhi.
Just as a matter of interest, before disposing of my old handwritten
notes, I decided to check the list of holidays in the Consulate General of
India's office in new York for the present year (2021) under a Organiser-backed
"pro-Hindu" Indian government. I find 17 holidays, and, on
checking further, I find that this list also applies to the Consulate General
of India's office in Chicago for the year 2021 as well as the previous year
2020. I did not bother to check any further.
But here is the list for 2021(I am not including New Year's day in the list of Christian holidays, although technically it is a Christian New Year. It is not a holiday in India, or at least not a bank holiday in Maharashtra), without any further comments:
